Walby Farm Park for families is an award-winning Cumbrian attraction for all weathers. It's one of the best days out in the area and just a 30 minute drive from Broadmea.

Haltwhistle Leisure Centre

Outdoor swimming pools are open from mid-April through August.

Other available sports facilities include fitness suite, badminton, tennis courts and studio classes.

Alston Moor Golf Club 

The highest golf course in England. Challenge yourself to 18 holes of golf, over 10 greens and 18 tee positions.

A great family day out with indoor play area, toy shop, cafe and giant screen cinema. A 45-minute drive from Broadmea.

Why not take a trip to Rookin House? Here you can enjoy archery, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, assault courses, horse riding, human bowling and quad biking. Perfect for families and groups, this is also a great day out for stag and hen parties.

Broadmea is in the North Pennines where some of the darkest skies in England can be found. The Northumberland International Dark Sky Park welcomes visitors to stargaze and revel in the beauty of our amazing night skies.

Take a tour of Nenthead Mines, only 10 miles from Broadmea, or the award-winning lead mining museum in Killhope, around 13 miles from Broadmea. You'll have the chance to discover the historical mining industry while you enjoy exhibitions, events and workshops. Great for kids and adults alike!

Broadmea has developed a range of maps so you can enjoy short local walks right from your front door.

Epiacum Roman Fort Walk takes you to a historic Roman fort. Why not treat yourself to refreshments and food at the Nook Cafe while you're there?

Slaggyford Circular is an easy short walk around the village. One of our most popular routes, a good walk to the pub, will take you on a lovely stroll to the award winning gastro pub, The Kirkstyle Inn and Sportsman's Rest.

With a valid fishing license, you can fish along our stretch of the South Tyne River free of charge. On the River Tyne, salmon fishing season runs between 1st Feb - 31st Oct and trout fishing runs between 3rd April - 31st Oct.

For local fishing fun, why not try New Mills Trout Fishing Park or head a little further a field for fly fishing experiences in Cumbria?

Peaceful cycle routes mean you can enjoy a bike ride, no matter what your level of ability.

The Ayle and Kirkaugh loop is an attractive ride along quiet country lanes, perfect for enthusiastic cyclists.

If you're looking for a less challenging route, why not try cycling along the surfaced railway from Slaggyford to Lambley Viaduct? For a longer trail, carry on all the way to Haltwhistle. Alternatively, cycle along the railway through the lovely countryside. You'll end up in Alston, the local market town.

If you're feeling energetic and up for a challenge, you might consider taking on the Coast 2 Coast route.

The world heritage site of Hadrian’s wall is a short drive away from Broadmea. Here you can visit (and walk along!) the wall, taking in some fascinating attractions along the way, such as Housesteads Roman Fort, Vindolanda, The Sill and Sycamore Gap.

Not only does the city of Carlisle offer a variety of great shopping and culinary experiences, it's also home to historical jewels such as Carlisle Castle.

The Lake District National Park is a stunning part of the country, famous for its scenic roads and charming lakes - you'll not be short of things to do here!

And, if you're looking for an evening of theatrical entertainment in a uniquely beautiful location, the Theatre By The Lake could be just the ticket.

Newcastle Upon Tyne is a vibrant and exciting city, just a one-hour drive away from Broadmea. Just take a look at the vast range of things to do here!

The city's beautiful quayside offers a great choice of restaurants, cafes and bars and is also the site of a bustling Sunday market.

You'll find The Baltic, a hub for contemporary art, next to The Sage Theatre in Gateshead. Here you can enjoy outstanding musical performances. Love shopping? Then don't miss a trip to the MetroCentre, which offers retail therapy at its best.

The North East is also home to many iconic landmarks, such as Alnwick Castle and Bamburgh Castle, both rich in history. Likewise Kielder Water and Forest Park offer outdoor pursuits and are great fun for larger groups.

The Scottish Border is just 40 minute's drive from Broadmea along the M74 (one of the most stunning motorways in the UK).

Just over the border lies Gretna Green, famous for its runaway weddings over the blacksmith’s anvil. This romantic village is in Dumfries and Galloway, a tranquil part of Scotland where you'll find historic sites, an unspoilt coastline and plenty of oportunities to get close to wildlife and enjoy the outstanding scenery.
