The Rheged Centre 

A great family day out with indoor play area, toy shop, cafe and giant screen cinema. A 45 minute drive from Broadmea.

Why not take a trip to Rookin House where you can enjoy archery, fishing, clay pigeon shooting, assault courses, horse riding, human bowling and quad biking. Perfect for families, groups and a great day out for stag and hen parties.

Broadmea is lucky enough to be situated in the North Pennines where some of the darkest skies in England can be found. The Northumberland International Dark Sky Park welcomes visitors to stargaze and revel in the beauty of our amazing night skies.

Broadmea has developed a range of maps for short local walks right from the door.

Epiacum Roman Fort Walk takes you to the historic Roman fort with refreshments and food at the Nook Cafe.

Slaggyford Circular is an easy short walk around the village and A good walk to the pub will take you on a lovely walk to the award winning gastro pub, The Kirkstyle Inn and Sportsman's Rest.

With a valid fishing license you can fish along our stretch of the South Tyne River free of charge. On the River Tyne, Salmon fishing season runs between 1st Feb - 31st Oct and Trout fishing runs between 3rd April - 31st Oct.

The peaceful cycling routes enable visitors to enjoy a bike ride for each level of expertise.

The Ayle and Kirkaugh loop is an attractive ride along quiet country lanes, perfect for enthusiastic cyclists.

For those looking for a less challenging route, why not try cycling along the surfaced railway from Slaggyford to Lambley Viaduct or for a longer trail carry on all the way to Haltwhistle. Alternatively, travel along the railway towards Alston for a trip through the lovely countryside to end up in the local market town.

Of course there is always the option for a challenge for those feeling energetic with the Coast 2 Coast route.

The world heritage site of Hadrian’s wall is a short drive away from Broadmea. Walk along the wall or visit some attractions along the way, such as Housesteads Roman Fort, Vindolanda, The Sill and Sycamore Gap, all fabulous spots offering a tremendous experience for visitors to enjoy.

The city of Carlisle has a busy city centre for shopping, restaurants and bars, it is also home to great historical features like Carlisle Castle.

The Lake District National Park is a stunning part of the country, famous for its scenic roads and charming lakes, you will not be short of things to do here. Moreover, if you are looking for an evening of entertainment, why not visit the Theatre By The Lake.

Newcastle Upon Tyne is a vibrant and exciting city with lots to do, a 1 hour drive from Broadmea. Take a look at the vast range of things to do in this well-known city.   

The quayside is a beautiful area for drinks, food and a Sunday market. The Baltic features contemporary art, located next to The Sage Theatre in Gateshead where you can see musical performances at their best and Intu MetroCentre is the perfect place for shopping.

The North East is also home to many famous landmarks, such as Alnwick Castle and Bamburgh Castle which are iconic places to visit and full of history. Likewise Kielder Water and Forest Park has many outdoor pursuits to provide an abundance of fun for large groups.

Only a 40 minute drive North of Broadmea is the Scottish Border. Following the M74 will take you on what is considered to be one of the most stunning motorways in the UK and a fast route to South West Scotland.

Dumfries and Galloway offer a number of historic sites and unspoilt coastlines providing a haven for wildlife. Gretna Green is situated just over the border, famous for its runaway weddings over the blacksmith’s anvil.

As well as this, the area offers arts, heritage and striking routes to travel in order for visitors to see the outstanding scenery.
